Nissan Titan Battery Type

Nissan Titan, one of the most preferred Nissan models in the full-sized pickup truck category, is manufactured at Canton, Mississippi, and was introduced in the market in the year 2004. It has been distinctively designed using a 32 valve, 5.6 L, VK56DE engine of the V8 types.

Other unique features of Nissan’s Titan include spark plugs with platinum tip, 130 amp alternator, direct ignition systems, intake valves designed with CVTCS, Tier 2 emissions, and an electronically operated drive-by-wire throttle. As far as the battery is concerned, Nissan Titan uses a special 650 CCA battery. The FFV models, on the other hand, use a 710 CCA, heavy duty battery.

The 650 CCA/710 CCA batteries that Titan uses is a rechargeable type of battery used to provide electricity to the vehicle. Based on its function, it has been appropriately named as the SLI battery, where ‘SLI’ refers to Starter motor, Lights, and Ignition System, all of which are powered by the battery. As this battery is used as the primary source of energy in the vehicle, it is also termed as ‘traction battery’.

Some facts and specifications about the Nissan Titan battery type are as follows:

  • It is an automotive, lead-acid battery, comprising of 6 galvanic cells, each providing a potential of 2.1 V.
  • It uses a liquid electrolyte and a flooded cell battery.
  • ‘CCA’ stands for ‘cold cranking ampere’ and refers to the total current amount that can be provided by a battery at -18 degrees C, or 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

The rating of ‘650 CCA’ of the 12 V battery used by Titan, thus, indicates that the battery is designed to offer 650 amps for half a minute at zero degrees, much before the voltage of 7.2 V falls down.
